Independent living

At Sonas, our aim is to provide a variety of care at our facilities, to meet the differing requirements of our residents. Our residents can avail of a range of supports, depending on their level of mobility or independence, with the nursing home as back-up if required.

Who would benefit from independent living

The three main reasons people opt for independent or assisted living are: mobility, vulnerability and sociability.

  1. People with mobility issues may still be very independent but unable to travel to shops.
  2. Those with health issues, such as heart, respiratory or minor paralysis, benefit from the proximity of care and the provision of meals.
  3. Older people who find living entirely on their own lonely, or even threatening, also benefit from the reassurance of being part of the Sonas community.

Independent living at Sonas

Residents of Sonas Independent Living units have different requirements. Some are fully independent, preparing all their own meals, while others avail of varying degrees of service from the nursing home.
